I think it's gonna take more than just simply sanitation to boost tourism. If the roads are so crappy you can't get anywhere who cares if they have a sit down toilet....but a pet peeve could the please create a tub like situation so that water isn't all over the floor by the toilet...
Sure, some proper sanitation would go a long way for Indian tourism, but it's a very easy thing to say, especially for a "minister of state for tourism." Wake me when she comes up with a plan, especially for the whole tub thing sluggo wrote about. When I was 10 I slipped and fell in the toilet of my athai's house because of water around it, and I don't think I ever recovered emotionally.
