Threading (eyebrows, that is) rules. There were so many salons that did it in Chicago, that when I moved to Boston. I thought the east coast was supposed to be all culturally 'superior' and stuff. Ha!

Ummm, threading (complete with videos of the process from outside) is all over NYC and has been for the last few years. And not just in strictly desi neighborhoods anymore either. It's, in fact, one of the many things I'm deprived of finding out about on the SAWCC list, which I'm not allowed to be one. I don't think anyone "successfully brought it" here any time recently :)

Being a former Boston gal I highly recommend Leeba Salon or FX (both on Comm Ave). Both do threading- though they are a bit pricey.

Not that I would need to undergo such a procedure, I just want you all to know that.

Actually, I changed my mind, I no longer disapprove. I think its a great image to give to other people. A civilisation of men obsessed with their balls and their ball's healthcare and grooming can only produce great things. Great things of manliness but with a feminine dimension. I hope all the great playwrights and Ango-Saxon Americans visit this thread and can be left in no doubt about where we stand on this issue.

Reg. that finding a modern male article: the article seems to be insisting that the ideal modern male should be, basically, gay (not that there's anything wrong with that).

The Mama's boys argument is flawed. Firstly, desi guys take most of the work done by their moms also for granted and dont appreciate it enough. Exactly like most kids of rich parents dont appreciate the value of money or coming up the hard way.
This dependency however makes them more malleable by their moms - emotionally and their dads - financially.

Similarly most desi husbands grow very dependent on their wives. This makes them very controllable. I would confidently say that most desi husbands are uxorious more than dominating. Chest thumping aside, most desi husbands are totally puppets in the hands of their wives(some directly and more indirectly) more than in any other race.

I think what playwrights and non-whites will think about desis when they read this site is that we are human: no more, no less. All of it matters. Every single bit of it, good and bad. The actresses, politicians, the threaders, the Apprentice Raj, writers, doctors, researchers, laborers, hijras, lawyers, techies, aunties, uncles, all of it. Try and put a brown person in a box and what you'll find is that you single, individual box for each.
