Kitchrie cultural fest in QueensNews
Queens is hosting a big cultural festival this evening and all day tomorrow showcasing the desi cultures of Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname and the Indo-Caribbean diaspora in New York (thanks, Saurav). Kitchrie 2005 features food, music, dance and theater at the Rajkumari Cultural Center in Richmond Hill.
The festival runs from 6-10pm tonight and noon-10pm tomorrow, followed by a concert and afterparty. (I’m diggin’ the alternate spellings — kitchrie, Ramnarine, Baboolal, Bisham…) Click here for details.

Dude! I'm Guyanese, and I'm Indian and I'm now an ubber new yorker! Hahaha... yes I'm a tad bit confused if you want to call it that, or you can term me "The people of the future"
Speaking of my country, there are 52% indians there, and it always surprised me that indians themseleves do not knw about it.... well, I guess not a lot of people do since would would have thought "Indians in south america/caribbean/west indies?"
But umm... I would say Guyana and Trinidad are more closely considered sister countries of india. Suriname, because they speak dutch is somewhat vage.
nevertheless, people still speak hindi/urdu there... except me, I learnt it for 10 years and all I remember are the alphabet.
hmm... anyways, whomeever goes to the show I hope its a blast!

If anyone's going, they should figure out how to take the J train, learn that buses are okay, are just drive :)
