Fauja Singh finishes another marathon!Sports

Fauja Singh is a stud. The man is 94 and he just finished yet another marathon, this time in Edinburgh. There he led a team (named “Sikhs in the City”) of five Sikh runners with a combined age of 397 years between them. Said Fauja Singh:

I hope we will inspire young people to keep going and older people never to give up [cite]

If this is the first time you’re hearing about Fauja Singh, here’s the (very) skinny:

Honestly, I’m amazed that he ran even one more race. My father met him recently, and from their conversation I had gotten the impression that Fauja Singh was considering hanging up his sneakers and calling it a day. If he had been thinking about retirement, it looks like the idea suited him around as well as it did Michael Jordan. I’m pretty selfish about this - I hope he stays healthy and competes for years to come. I need all the inspiration I can get.

Story via DNSI. Thanks to SM reader dot for the tip!

Awesome. I heard the secret to his success is a pre-race meal of ginger curry.

And lots and lots of training.

TOTALLY AWESOME!!!! By far the coolest old people I've ever seen. Who says you have to stop enjoying life after 30?

What is this "gangsters" and "pimp" crap that in polluting Our Indian, and Desi cultures. You sound like idiots and this man is trying to prove this by his running. His attitude of not thinking negative and talking to god while he runs. I hope you all learn from this man's attitude and work ethic how to live life....

Sorry to (partly) break a good story, but he didn't really took his first running steps at age 86. Back in the 1940s, he was one of India's top runners. Nevertheless, it's quite a comeback after some 30-40 years off the tracks... :-)

A Swede - you might have him confused with Milkha Singh... Anyway, anyone who starts or restarts running in their 80's and completes a full marathon has my deepest admiration.

that tells me ,he is healthy strong by mind. when you mind is healthy your body naturaly gets healthy which gives you the motivation of well being and encourages to do more physical work. at age 90 he his mind and body both are interwoven. so proud of him
