Panjabi having a very ‘Good Year’Film

Actress Archie Panjabi has a small role in a new film with Russell Crowe:

Panjabi in another film, Yasmin

Archie Panjabi, to my mind the best Indian actress in Britain, is currently filming in A Good Year, which is an appropriate title because she has had a pretty good year. The film, directed by Ridley Scott and based on a book by Peter Mayle, is about an investment banker (played by Russell Crowe) who swaps London life for a vineyard in France. [Link]

An Englishman (Crowe) inherits a vineyard in Provence. Upon arriving at his new property, he meets an American woman who claims that the land is hers. [Link]

The film co-stars French actress Marion Cotillard. Here’s the book upon which the movie is based:

The caper in A Good Year revolves around a mysterious small-batch cult wine that never makes it to the wine store and trades as an investment. [Link]

Panjabi’s last project was a tawdry teledrama about former British Home Secretary David Blunkett:

… Archie was in A Very Social Secretary, a television dramatisation of the events surrounding David Blunkett’s affair with Kimberly Fortier, the American publisher of The Spectator magazine… An outraged Blunkett tried unsuccessfully to stop the broadcast on Channel 4 on the grounds that his privacy was being invaded. What?? I feel shortchanged. Cheated even.

I request that the hotter front-page pic of Archie Panjabi from the Russel Crowe flick be blown into a large format and reinstate here. Man, that next-door-girl-that-just-woke-up look is just not doing it for me.

Peace out.

What, no comment about the beard?

Ok, the movie sounds serious and addresses the need for cross-cultural dialogue in this post 9/11 geopoliticaly volatile environment.

But I refuse to be guilted by that.

I mantain that this post could do with some Panjabi pout. Or her, just for the heck of it.

I'll be seeing Yasmin at a local theatre in a week or so.... at that point, I will comment.

What, no comment about the beard?

Very clever beard, Manish.

DDIA - I respectfully disagree. The "next-door-girl-that-just-woke-up" look is one of her strong points - it emphasizes how naturally beautiful she is!

Very clever beard, Manish.

Alas, I can't take credit for it, it's in the movie itself.

I loved her in Bend it Like Beckham. She's got a good, punchy and natural delivery. Looking forward to this one.

hey bearded lady........

i couldnt pick up if you wre being sracastic or not but surely you must know that Panjabi is in fact a Sindhi last name, ironic.....don't you think.

incidentally, archie panjabi is one of the best actors out of Britasia....there are very few of any real merit, methinks...she was very very good in the Channel 4 adaptation of White Teeth...i really hate it when actors of Indian descent cannnot put a discernable indian accent together...Punjabi did of course and even had the nuance to make it Bengali enough to suit the character.

Just found out Archie Panjabi is playing Asra Nomani in A Might Heart starting Jolie. Asra Nomani was very good friends with Daniel Pearl.
