Oh, What a Tangled Wig We Weave...News

baldie.jpg

How far would you go to avoid something unpleasant? Would you lie? Cheat? Publicly HUMILIATE yourself? Via the BBC:

Bollywood star Salman Khan has given an unusual excuse for not attending court this week in India - he was recovering from hair implants, his lawyers say.

Oh, it hurts to chortle THIS much. The Khan I like least had to stay home to recover from all the plugging he took. An advocate for the wispy one had more to add:

Khan’s lawyer, Dipesh Mehta, said this was the first time the actor had had hair implants.
“Salman Khan had just returned from Dubai and undergone hair-weaving treatment,” he told the BBC. “He was also suffering from flu and not feeling well.”

Feeling plugged or not, Salman is in trouble. Not showing up for his trial resulted in cancelled bail (and the Beeb article…and this post…and the evil gleam in my eye…)

Salman Khan is accused of killing two blackbucks, a small, protected species of Indian antelope, in the city of Jodhpur during a film shoot in 1998.

Mais oui, Vain-y McPlugster denies all charges. Most of you are aware— this isn’t the first time he’s behaved badly and claimed innocence. In 2002, Khan decided that homeless people looked like road and drove over them, killing one and injuring three. Besides this poaching case which he’s attempting to unplug from, he also faces a trial in Mumbai for that stunning example of deadly recklessness.

Has Salman Khan made any movies worth watching? Every single movie (or movie clip) I've seen of his makes me want to hurt myself thouroughly. I still don't understand how HAHK became the most popular Hindi movie of all time....

"Khan had recently had minor head surgery and so was unable to appear in court, his lawyer said"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/4522036.stm

The hair story was covered up:
'Hair op' kept actor from court (headline from http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/4532746.stm)

I feel a bit of justified shadenfreude. He seems like a puffed up big head that thinks he is above the law. And now he's not only untalented but also going bald. Cheers!

This could be the first sign of Graft vs. Host Syndrome. Let's hope Salman fares better than this guy.

Lol, I heard about his "head surgery" a few weeks ago .. my only question is, why didn't he do this sooner? he's had a receding hairline for over 10 years now! And to think I used to be so obsessed that I carried around a poster of him in my backpack at school and wouldn't come back home from Bombay until I met him.

The other day I caught a few minutes of Sanjay Dutt on some talk show on Zee. His drug addiction and his imprisonment were discussed by his father and sister in an open, matter of fact manner. No denial of what happened or the difficulties they had to face.

Instead of covering it up, they admitted what was wrong unlike some *other* actors. This cocky brat could use some sense and humility.

Well Sonia,
We all have our indiscretions of our youth....Salman was enemy no.1 especially after he (supposedly) beat up TMBWITW when they were together....I have nt seen a single movie of his since then!

Well, at least he's being honest about it :)

LMAO!!! The photo reminded me of that freaky comic from the 90's Emo Phillips.

WG - same here. Ever since I became obsessed with TMBWITW, my loyalty is with her. I've also never seen another movie of his (except for mujhse shadi karogi which i had to see because i was expecting a big wedding scene, and of course was disappointed). Anyways, down with Salman!

I still don't understand how HAHK became the most popular Hindi movie of all time....

Because of Madhuri Dixit. SURELY not because of Saala-man Khan. Don't start me-- oh wait, too late-- my loathing for this guy is furlongs deep. First he drunk-drives and kills a few people, and then tries to get one of his bodyguards to lie in court and say that he was driving drunk, instead of Saala-man. Busted for poaching endangered animals, as if regular hunting wasn't vile enough... Beating up his girlfriend, stalking her, embarrassing and abusing her at work (the reason she got kicked off the cast of Chalte Chalte was because Saala-man stormed onto the set, tried roughing her up and verbally abused SRK, prompting SRK to remove her from the project and replace her with Rani Mukherji), then challenging her new boyfriend (Vivek Oberoi) to a cockfight and leaving him threatening and ridiculous voice messages... All that drama aside I don't think I've been able to stomach a single one of his movies, since Andaaz Apna Apna, and it was probably only because Aamir Khan was carrying the film...

oh, and he looks like a toad. a toad that's jacked up on steroids, with a weave.

Let me get this right...SK comes and abuses her on the sets, and she get to be punished by losing the movie to someone else? What is this, Pakistan? The raped woman must be stoned to death for being raped?

Basically. From what I understand/read, the production team decided that TMBWITW was high-risk and if that keeping her in the project meant regular disruptions from PsychoBoy Khan, then it was more a liability to continue working with her at that time. Rani came without baggage and an idiot in tow, and frankly did an adorable job in the movie anyway.

DD:>>production team decided that TMBWITW was high-risk and ...meant regular disruptions from PsychoBoy Khan

Then, the proper response for SRK should have be to lock up SK. SRK is one of the most powerful persons in Bollywood. He has enough clout to stop anybody career. Power must be wielded to punish the guilty and protect the innocent. He should have gone hammer and tongs after SK and retained Aishwarya in the movie. That's the "heroic" thing to do - pun intended.

This, unfortunately, is the biggest bane of India. Instead of punishing the guilty, the innocents get clobbered. A few years ago airlines would serve alcohol in flights. One day a man got drunk and had his hands all over the air-hostess. The airlines response to that: Stop alcohol in planes. It did not matter that thousands of innocent people consume alcohol and yet behave like civilized citizens. But ONE person gets out of line, and instead of punishing the person, they punish the rest of us.

Okay...accepting the fact that this question will make me sound very 'unsepia', what does TMBWITW mean? I realize that it's a name for Aishwarya Rai.

Salman Khan never ceases to amaze me. The man cannot act, he whines when he tries to cry on screen and has a pathetic body. Did anyone tell him that a well tonned body also involves toned legs? Eww.

p.s. you sound just fine. :)

The most beautiful woman eh...she's single again. Do I hear heavy breathing?

Probably not, as nobody seems to have told him that it's the opposite of sexy when he whips his shirt off 3.64 times (average) per film. It's really not necessary to subject us to his 40-something uncle-chest. Even the 40-something aunties don't dig it...

How about the times when his chest is showing signs of growth after a wax job?

Pardon me mutineers...but Salman happens to be one of the people that I love to hate.

I once read that Salman's true inspiration came from 'Urmila, just around the time she did 'Rangeela' and 'Daud'.

1) no need to ask for a pardon, that's what we're here for. ;)

2) true inspiration? i'm confused, but that's to be expected since i don't watch bolly.

Back in the days, Urmila used to shed her clothes. Between her and Salman, it was hard to tell who did it the most. Of course, Urmila has grown out of it and is into better roles now.

I remember the fuss made about Kulkarni's shot even though I was a kid around then. Too many scandalized Aunties who couldn't get over it.

But they still bought the issue which featured it.

 30 · yourbloodyvalentine on December 17, 2005 03:57 AM · Direct link · “Quote”(?)

Yeah, that shot looks especially scandalous for the time period (gotta love those acid washed jeans though).
If they didn't buy the issue, what would the aunties have to talk about? ;)
