New Location! Los Angeles Meetup April 15th!Meetups!

Under the cover of darkness, I have broken free of the reigns of the basement of the North Dakota bunker. I have hijacked the SM Meetup Makin’ Machine and let loose a bee in Abhi’s office, you know, for good measure. I am here to truly serve you, Sepia Mutiny readers. The time has arrived. That’s right mutineers, we are having a Los Angeles Sepia Mutiny Meetup.

You hear that L.A. Mutineers? After months of teasing from Abhi, and drooling over the mutineers meeting up in other cities, we finally get to join the elite! Yay!

Date: April 15, 2006 Saturday
Time: 5:30 pm
NEW Place: Tribal Café, 1651 W. Temple St., #A, LOS ANGELES

Please RSVP in the comments section, to let us know how many people are coming. If you don’t come, and you live within a 50 mile radius of L.A., we will know, and we will find you. Especially since we did choose Noura Café Tribal Cafe because we are optimistic that people will come far and wide and we think they will be accommodating. I cannot divulge the details, but I promise it is THE SM Meetup not to be missed.

So Noura’s Cafe is no longer. Thanks Arun. We are shifting to the hipster part of LA now to Echo Park, and meeting up at the artsy new space of Tribal Café, located in the heart of Filipino town. Where are all the LA bloggers, readers, and lurkers at?

First of all, having this half an hour before the tax deadline is just cruel :)

Second, I suggest Muscle Beach so we can all admire Abhi's butt-tight white jeans and rippling spelunker physique.

Taz: I am glad your criteria is "Within 50 miles of Los Angeles". As I will be in San Francisco for a whole week starting April 15th, presenting papers at a conference celebrating the 100 years annivarsary of 1906 San Francisco Earthquake. I can be excused based on this distance criteria. Besides, Abhi will not be able to handle "YO DAD" so soon after the DC meetup just few weeks ago. Have Fun!!

Sigh...if it was last year, I'd have walked from orange county to muscle beach or wherever it is that you guys are meeting! However, I got my chance at a fabulous DC meet up so have fun you all!

Yo Dad...I had forgotten about doing a google search on you but with your last post, I think I am going to do one right now!

Too bad this time. Anyway, I plan to be in LA May 25-29 for the LA salsa congress. Anyone planning to be out there for a meetup...lemme know!

Phew. I read: "hijacked the SM Meetup Makin’ Machine", really quickly... and I thought you said I hijacked SM with Michelle Malkin!

Yay...it's awesome that you are planning this. I think it'll be fun and I will see if Joycelyn wants go as well. See you then.

You know, as a brown man, I've stopped using the word "hijacked" in any context. Just like the word "bombed" or "explosive." Just some things I wont say anywhere where I might be overheard and misunderstood. Reading your post made me realize that, when I started to mentally look over my shoulder.

Wait, wait, Yo Dad, do Saheli and I have to stage a SF meetup to commemorate the 1906 earthquake?? :)

 12 · Yo Dad on April 6, 2006 02:07 PM · Direct link · “Quote”(?)

Brimful: My Conference will be in Downtown at the Moscone Center. I will be staying nearby. Check with the "Top Bananna" at North Dakota HQ, if just the ordinary "SEPOY" mutineers can have a meetup, without any SEPIA Officer?? I do not know what their "Protocols" are - if any? Although I know "Saheli" has been thru the "grind" as a "guest" Officer. As we lived in the Bay Area for 14 years prior to moving to MD suburb I know all about the beautiful city by the Bay.... Incidentally, don't expect me to wear flowers!! HaHaHa.........

 13 · Yo Dad on April 6, 2006 02:15 PM · Direct link · “Quote”(?)

Not that there is anything wrong with it !!! Need to be politically correct.

 14 · Abhi on April 6, 2006 02:32 PM · Direct link · “Quote”(?)

Flag on the play. "Yo Dad" doesn't make ANY appearances without representation present. ME. Loose lips sink ships.

 15 · taz on April 6, 2006 02:55 PM · Direct link · “Quote”(?)

Ennis, I think you are the bomb! ;-)

 16 · brimful on April 6, 2006 03:00 PM · Direct link · “Quote”(?)

Abhi, you're a killjoy. :)

And apologies for being the obligatory threadjacker. Have fun at the LA meetup!

 17 · Saheli on April 6, 2006 03:00 PM · Direct link · “Quote”(?)

Well then, Abhi, I guess you better get your ass up here---you know how resourceful brimful and I can be. If we want to meet the famous man himself without his flack, we probably can. Of course if the Flack should swear on his spacesuit that he'll representin' at later known date, some sort of compromise might be reached.

 18 · livinsimplee on April 6, 2006 05:51 PM · Direct link · “Quote”(?)

Saheli - I think "Flack" would have to do more than swear, yes the word of a Mad Mind cannot be trusted. ;-)

There have been numerous stories of his failed intentions to grant his dharshan to his fellow bay area mutineers :). It will be great, and we would be honoured to host "Yo,Dad" at a meetup in SF, and anxiously derive information that we can inturn use to entice (or black mail ;-) you to the Bay Area. All of course in the search of enlightenment :)

I just read this:

Are you serious???

Deadly Very serious. Well, to clarify, I don't use those words metaphorically any more. I will use them literally, as in the 9/11 planes were hijacked. I just don't want to be accidentally misunderstood. I will no longer say, "The PR guy got bombed and then totally hijacked the press conference by saying something explosive" It's the fear of being detained for singing along with the Clash.

I'll be there, with bells on.

 29 · Biggie Mac on April 10, 2006 02:05 AM · Direct link · “Quote”(?)

If I attend, how will I know it's you? Should I wear a carnation in my lapel?

 30 · Deepa on April 10, 2006 05:21 PM · Direct link · “Quote”(?)

I'll be there with my husband. Thanks Taz!

No Yo Dad :( What about you, Abhi? Are you coming?

 31 · Abhi on April 10, 2006 05:33 PM · Direct link · “Quote”(?)

Oh yes, I will be there. Maybe I can grow a beard by this weekend just to play it safe.

 32 · Deepa on April 10, 2006 05:51 PM · Direct link · “Quote”(?)

No, then you may be stopped and detained on your way to the meetup...

 33 · Zack on April 11, 2006 07:54 AM · Direct link · “Quote”(?)

Sorry to miss this -- I'm in Mumbai for now.
(Suggested a meetup here but may be better for Manish if he stays undercover.)
Regards...
