Are lurkers allowed??
TazPac!
Nice. I'll be sure to include in the next invite-
Promises Promises...
The chance to use the pick up line, "Is that a roll of quarters in your pocket, or are you just..." And, of course, the chance to hang out with the coolest macacas on the West Siiiiide in downtown Los Angeles.
I dunno, with all the tension, I think I'll have to bring rolls of quarters stuffed in sock for self protection. Los Angeles is straight up thuggin.
Gazer -
If you are a blogger, a commenter, a lurker, and yes, even a banned-from-commenting reader (ahem), you are all welcome to come.
HMF -
I'm a tease.
GujuDude -
Is that a roll of quarters stuffed in sock in your pocket, or are you just -- ?
there's free stuff?! figures 30 desis are showing up. ;)
GujuDude - Is that a roll of quarters stuffed in sock in your pocket, or are you just -- ?
Note to myself: Folks in LA creative thugs.
This is your last reminder that the Sepia Mutiny Los Angeles End of Summer Blow Out Meetup is less than 30 hours away!
you will, however, get another reminder when it's less than 15 hours away. :-)
I keed, I keed.
HMF - I'm a tease.
Oh, I can see that, even by LA standards. :0
peoples: i am 32. are there any in my age-group? or are we talking about twenty somethings here?
Jazz -
We got the whole age range coming...but it's usually the late 20s to mid-30s. Don't let age intimidate you, come!
late 20s to mid-30s
I'm in that age range, and I never COMPLETLY got used to being out of high shcool. jeez. that age range makes me feel old. damn it. im not even married yet.
im not even married yet.
you're in luck - didn't you know that shadhi.com was sponsoring this SM gathering?
hey
is anyone going to be driving from the pasadena area?
Long Beach in the house, ahhh! Yeah
Oaktown... Oakland definately in the house.
Frisco, yeah, Frisco... :
Eh, You know LA up in this... Pasadena, where you at?
Yeah, Inglewood...
Inglewood always up to no good.
Even Hollywood tryin' to get a piece of that...
Sacramento, Sacramento, where you at?
i'm at around the caltech area
peoples: i am 32. are there any in my age-group? or are we talking about twenty somethings here?
Half the bloggers at the Mutiny are in your age-group. ;) I used to be bang in the middle of our "age range" and I'm 31. Siddhartha, Ennis and Vinod are all older than you, I can't remember how old the Professor is...he might be, too. :)
At the meetups I've attended, you would've fit right in...all of you would...well, almost all. ;)
peoples: i am 32. are there any in my age-group? or are we talking about twenty somethings here?
beta do not vurry, trust in hurree.
i might be here, but so vish to be there.
dont get me wrong, so i say it in song,
ve may be toothless and blind - but ve still love a suitable behind.
::sigh:: someday.
i got something suitable for you...and whoever said brown girls don't have legs.
ah, those verre the days. ve enjoyed the vantage point. it hasnt been the same since the Oprration.
:-)
you're very photogenic, anna - but that cant be news to the bulk of the readership.
and whoever said brown girls don't have legs.
Hey, I said that...and had I known you'd challenge my argument with visual evidence, I would've mentioned some other body parts. But for now, we'll have to make a southern exception.
quick note hairy_d: SM banned patronizing comments a while ago..
quick note hairy_d: SM banned patronizing comments a while ago..um.. come again.
anyhow... i was just being fresh. dont read too much into it. chitchat's not my strong suit anyway.
enjoy your trip.
i'm at around the caltech area
I'm just a little bit outside the caltech area (meaning I don't have to deal with South Pas yuppies). But it looks like you already got a ride. It's ok, I run on IST and sloth-like mental abilities, so I would have been late anyway :)
I think I'll be the youngest one there. Tazpac Aunty, don't outdo yourself =)
I think I'll be the youngest one there.
nope. i think my baby cousin (who may be in college, but will always be my little booboo) might show.
always be my little booboo
sweet, I mean, can I use that? I'll see you all there!
nope. i think my baby cousin (who may be in college, but will always be my little booboo) might show.
Among macacas we prefer the term bonobo.
do you have to be desi to come? I am half desi and i might bring a non-desi friend
do you have to be desi to come? I am half desi and i might bring a non-desi friend
Nope, come one come all. We have confirmed that there will be a number of non-desis in the house. The only requirement is that you have to be a bit mutinous.
Shy!
COME! and bring your friend-!!! We are expecting at least 40 people to come...desi, half, non - whatever- as long as you have a love for all things mutinous! it'll be fun. PROMISE.
I'm an transexual large-wave surfing eskimo with gills that moonlights as a ninja, can I come?
Very Shy,
Um. I don't think so.
I'm an transexual large-wave surfing eskimo with gills that moonlights as a ninja, can I come?
Awww, I'd just like to point out that you would be WELCOME at an SF/DC/NYC meetup, so if you're around those cities, bring your trannie self on down. I heart ninjas. ;)
Can't wait to see the pictures from this meetup!
so apparently banksy is holding an exhibition at an abandoned warehouse not 3 miles from the golden gopher. think I might check that out before I mosey on over.
info here.
anna: where are the pics from the SF meetup a few weeks ago? :)
builder!
Do you still need a ride from the westside???
DON'T Bike it!
hahaha
taz yes that would be nice. :)
If it's cool, I have a friend joining me.
This is turning into the famous baseball field in the middle of Iowa. "If you build it, they will come", or in this case, "If Sepiamutiny hosts it, they will come."
GujuDude,
Really what would ever give you the idea you could bring a friend?!?(teasing) If all the people who say they are coming come, we are looking at like 45 people. Goody bags= only 31. There will be some folks missing out...
I'll see all of y'all tonight!
Don't forget the quarters!
No friends! Umm ... unless they're really hot, then bring all you want. Or if they can hook me up with somebody who is really hot. Or if they laugh at my jokes. Ummm ... yeah. =)
Shit!! I can't make it after all. :(
Can't wait to see the pics.
Dammit!
...AND no pardesi gori. I'll give a better review of the meetup in the morning. But it WAS the best sepia meetup EVER.
Great job with the meetup, it looked like everybody was having a great time. I know I did. Also, thank you for the sweet CD mixtape!
No Pardesi Gori?
Am I surprised? Heck no.
Taz: Want a play by play...including your job of being Sepia Mutiny Aunty....
The looks of joy when receiving the goody bags...to when Abhi was 'ass grabbed'..(joking of course...)
...AND no pardesi gori.
Great. Now we'll have more people believing that pardesi gori and taz are really one and the same person ... "How do you know? Have you ever seen them together in the same room?"
taz on September 16, 2006 06:17 AM
Please note the timestamp, people. 3 AM PST. That means that either
a) the meetup rocked out until the wee hours of the morning
b) taz went to a more rocking party afterwards
c) taz spent hours stuck in traffic driving back

Choice a (although an "all of the above" answer is also possible). Even the hard partying Vinod was completely exhausted. I will upload pics soon.
The pics are up:

hey abhi,
can't see the photos from last night... do you have any direct links?

That's strange. I uploaded them and they are in the pool but only I can see them. Let me work on this problem. Maybe Flickr goddess Anna can help me out.
maybe you need to mark them public. it should have a green square icon near the bottom with the tagline (c) for public . if it has a yellow square, then it's only intended for friends and/or family by invitation only.

Yep, the green square is there. All the pics are large so I think it may just take a while to show up. I'll keep on it.

Shouldn't it be "Goddess of small things"? :D
Abhi,
I can see all your pictures from last night when I sign on to flickr.
Seems it was great success.
Interesting, very interesting. Especially, one starts associating "iconoclastic" comments on SM to their bourgeois faces. Bery, Bery interesting
uh..
Shouldn't it be "Goddess of small things"?
sure... if you like your goddesses hairy and with external plumbing. :-)
abhi:
can't see them on flickr...
hmm
Interesting, very interesting. Especially, one starts associating "iconoclastic" comments on SM to their bourgeois faces. Bery, Bery interesting
Iconoclastic is an intresting choice of words. And who might you be referring to, Kush?
And who might you be referring to, Kush?
Please don't take me too seriously. All was in part jest. I wasn't picking anyone specific, since those photos are not labeled, and they are only handful of them I know by face, and email contacts.
Even though, I always try to associate words to face in real life (and deeds too), I do....Ernest Hemingway talked about it in his novels.
But let's get back to SM, LA meet, and the flickr enigma.
Thanks to the Sepiamutiny crew for hosting and organizing the event. The location was cool and people even better. It was a pleasure to meet the bloggers as well as fellow SM fans. The crowd was definitely muntinous.
You were gracious hosts; even to crack addicted, eight ball snorting, recant the entire Illiad in one breath types like myself. Blanket apologies if I talked anyone's ear off (Which I most certainly did).
Good times!
No Pardesi Gori at Meetup?
My wild (and totally non-serious) theory: Pardesi Gori is CAD, and we will never meet either.
Incidentally, anyone know what happened to CAD? Did she get banned?
Did she fare badly in one of her mideast mission? (Isnt it weird-- and sad-- that if anything happened to a familiar mutineer, theres a good chance nobody online would ever know)
Yes, yes, a good reason to go to meetups, I know, and not just be disembodied keystrokes...
CAD hasn't been banned..has she?
She's alive and well... just busy...(who isn't)
Great pic's...
I see MY RAVI :)...
Made my day...
No Pardesi Gori at Meetup?
Of course not. I am Pardesi Gori.
CAD Alert
Yes, where is my cheap-ass-desi these days...I've been missing my "sajni".
anyone else still can't see the pics?
Thank you, Taz, Abhi, Vinod, for organizing a fun meetup. It was great to meet many of you commenters, bloggers and lurkers in person. What a cool, down-to-earth crowd! The small detour was very well worth it :). PG was definitely missed.
"bourgeois faces", Kush? I see it :-). I don't know about faces, but I can spot bourgeois from a mile away simply from their attire.
Shit! I just looked at the LA meetup pics on Flickr and the guy with the long hair is totally cuuuuuuuuuuuuute!!!!
How come I didn't spot him walking into the bar?!
Damn! I would've totally went in, had I.
Who is that? Mad Guru?
Eager disciple here! hee hee hee.... just kidding. All in fun. But he is cute!
