Cheek Swabbing Can Be Fun... Bay Area Mega DriveShort

Ultrabrown posted some picts from last weekend’s cheek swab fest in NYC. Vinay Chakravarty and his wife showed up and, as Manish points out, it’s almost weird how much revelry the event managed to create…

Additional events are happening all over the country to help Vinay, Sameer and countless others in the future.

In particular, this weekend, Bay Area volunteers are hosting their MEGA DRIVE spanning over a dozen sites.

So here’s a little game to liven things up & help get the word out — snap a pict or 2 of you and your friends getting your cheeks swabbed and/or holding up your donor cards, send ‘em to ME (vinod@vinod.com), and, in the spirit of the Desi Dad project, we’ll post some of our fav mug shots on SM and Ultrabrown alongside these folks -

You never know where 30 seconds of fame on SM’s front page might lead….

I'm happy the bay is blowing up on drives. I am a little sad that it happened after I left =/

I was going to ask, is anyone outreaching to the Sikh community in Fremont, Sacramento, San Jose, and Livermore? I think it is wonderful and great that the Hindu temples in both locations are hosting drives, but I worry that folks who don't normally frequent those areas will not realize that they can and should register :(

I went the one at "Piano" in NYC yesterday. It was packed. And I saw this one face and I kept thinking "from where, from where" now I see that it was SM's Vinod. Funny how that tiny pic. in a tux was recognizable. Great work fellas!

everyone has been linking to the drives that are posted on helpvinay.org. but if i understand correctly, you reach out to more folks if you also let all know of even more opportunities to register via marrow.org.

there are additional donor drives listed there and centers, too.

Shlok, I think part of the reason for that is because the kits from "Vinay's drives" will get processed first, due to the time-sensitive nature of his situation. They overnight them after each drive, with his name on them, etc. He doesn't have the luxury of regular processing times now, AFAIK.

Thanks Pondatti. Wasn't aware.

Apparently, swabs dig the cheek and chicks dig the swab.
