Chennai Meetup?

UPDATE: Chennai Meetup at Ponnusamy Hotel, Royopettah, 55/1, Gowdia Mutt Road, Royapettah, Chennai - 600014

@ approximately 8 p.m., after the reading at Landmark (see details for that below).

Hi Mutineers,

I’m reading at the Landmark in Nungambakkam on Friday. I was thinking… meetup after? What location would be convenient? The reading is at 6:30 p.m., so I figure that I’ll be freeish by 8 at the latest. Somewhere in that same neighborhood would be good.

Please put any ideas in comments if you are interested.

There's also Sno Bowling (bowling is Rs. 120/game, shoes optional).

I'm not in that zippincode or continent right now, but there's a Coffee Day in the Ispahani Center almost bang opposite Landmark on Nungambakkam High Road.

Both Mocha and the Ispahani Coffee Day are slicha noisy... maybe I'm just an ageing git, but difficult to hold a decent conversation in either place. I would suggest Amethyst which is a little farther away but much quieter. If Nungambakkam it has to be, then a Barista (either on KNK Rd or on NH Rd) is better. If work schedule permits, I'll be in attendance for both the reading and the meetup after!

i'd suggest someplace out by the beach rather than downtown. the sea air fills the heart to overflow. the gov has done a great job with the highways by the seashore and it's a treat to drive over and sit down for a cool coconut milk. and then the guy goes chop thwack and the scoops of coconut butter... yum. there's a gelateria out by golden bech that vas very good.

I'm not in Chennai anymore, but I second the Amethyst suggestion. It's like the Chettiars built it for blogger meetups. Heck, even Salman/Padma have made it there for a meetup of sorts.

Padma L like Landmark for sure. I bumped on her couple of time there, but its was in 2002-2003. I think she is no more in Chennai me neither.

Three cheers for Landmark - brings back fond memories - my first ever job - lasted less than a quarter though.

Sadly am not in Chennai :(

LOL. Indeed. Why NOT?! and what's wrong with hoteliers there anyway - going after some drainage sludge when theres delish local stuff to be enjoied. I was entertaining a biz associate at a hotel in desh [i think it was Park something] some years back. we askedfor coffee and they offered latte, cappucino, etc. i asked for filter coffee and they didnt have any! it really was a profound moment. my mind wanted to say madarchodekoothimayirpundaigaandfucketc but i desisted. they brought some yucky illy-type which we drained down. Anyway...

boycott the CCD. Go to the chettinad resto that guy recommended and have some good wholesome saaparh

If V.V can have meetup in Chennai and Taz can have meetup in New Delhi, how about a "Vibrant Meetup" in good old Ahmedabad - Abhi's parents and grandparents place/ I am just saying !! I will be here for 10 more days. Is any one out there interested?

I can't believe I missed this! I was in Chennai at the time, but failed to check SM! And I was actually at that Landmark on Thurs!
