yes.. King Khan is awesome. I am gonna go see them live in couple of weeks. I was reading his interview in one of the magazines and apparently his dad had a serious drug problem when he (King Khan) was 17 and so he ran away from his house and started getting into punk rock. He finally moved to Berlin when he was 22 and he put together his first band called the Spaceshits.

Interesting guy, I hear he puts on a wild show. I dont think I would compare him to Fela Kuti or Prince. He is more like the brown James Brown.

Do south Indians come from more of a liberal culture? Not that I dont know any south Indians, but I never asked them about how liberal their families are. I dont see that many other Indians that make it in entertainment these days and I was just wondering why that is.

The comedians, musicians and actors that are Indian all seem to be south Indian and I was wondering why that is? Are there any influences in the culture that make you explore your artistic side?

That is alot of south Indian domination.

Lets not forget one of the best rock guitarist of the 90's Kim Thayil who parents are from Kerela. I think he was the 1st desi to have a number 1 album in the United States when Soundgarden "Superunknown debut at #1 in March of 1994.

But neither West Bengal nor Gujarat are in South India.

MIA's family was from Sri Lanka.

I don't think that South Indians are more or less artistic than Indians from other parts of the country - were such the case, the Indian film, music, theater scene would reflect that, no?

Forget nudity, the Lips are known to treat their front row fans to golden showers. Also, they have totally hurt the local religious sentiments by not playing Roadhouse Blues.
